What are the health benefits of drinking filtered water?
Water is essential for feeling energised, rehydrating your body and supporting your body’s many processes. It is required for biochemical reactions to occur as well as for proper digestion, nutrient absorption, transportation, thermoregulation, waste elimination and more.
With a Kyn & Folk water filter, you’ll be able to eliminate any chlorine, chemicals, bad taste, odours, dirt, dust, and common metals found in water before they enter your body while also preserving the healthy minerals that are vital for proper bodily functions.

Which filter is right for me?
We offer two filter candle options for our ceramic water filters.
The Doulton Super Sterasyl Ceramic Candle cartridge is a highly efficient ceramic sub-micron filter suitable to remove unwanted contaminants from any water supply. It filters fine particulate matter, bacteria, cysts, and turbidity while also removing chlorine and organic compounds.
The UltraCeram Fluoride Removal Filter Candle is an ideal choice of gravity cartridge for both tank water and treated city water. If you are filtering rainwater, it is excellent to stop all bugs and bacteria in the water while also protecting you from any herbicides, pesticides or lead that may wash in from your roof. For treated city water, it will effectively remove common contaminants like fluoride, chlorine and chloramine.

How do I set up my new vessel?
Your benchtop water filter is made up of four separate ceramic elements: the base, the main water compartment, a smaller filter insert and a lid.
Along with each of these parts, you would have received a stainless steel tap and your choice of water filter candle.
Carefully unpack all of these elements from their packaging and assemble them following the video tutorial provided.
Now, all that's left to do is wait for your water to filter down into the main water compartment.
We recommend that you flush out your vessel before consumption. To do this, simply run water through the vessel and dispose of the first two litres of filtered water.
Please refer to our full setup guide here.
When should I replace my filter candle?
To maintain the efficacy and performance of your ceramic water filter, we recommend replacing your filter candle periodically. This frequency will differ depending on which filter candle you are using.
UltraCeram Fluoride Removal Filter Candle: every 9 months or 2000 litres, whichever comes first.
Doulton Super Sterasyl Ceramic Candle: every 12 months or 2000 litres, whichever comes first.
After this time, the activated carbon in the filter candles will become to saturated and will no longer function optimally.
Common Troubleshooting
Leaking Tap
1. Your tap needs to be tightened. If the water is seeping from the rubber seal where the tap is fitted to the main body of the vessel then you need to empty the filter and holding the nut on the inside tighten the tap by at least one full turn or more clockwise.
2. Your tap is defective. Please contact us at info@kynandfolk.com to arrange for a replacement part to be sent to you within 72
hours of delivery.
Abnormal Taste
Often described as fishy or chemically, the funny taste sometimes experienced with a brand-new filter is a result of the initial degasification process of the media inside the ceramic filter candle. After being flushed properly, this taste will dissipate. This process can take up to a few days.
Carbon Specks
It is completely normal for small specks of activated carbon (charcoal powder) to appear in your water in the initial days of operation. This material is harmless and will disappear with use.
